In addition to our mobile services, we now offer in-shop sandblasting and dry-ice blasting at 40 Spencer Street in Colborne, Ontario.

Toronto’s Greektown community was devastated when a neighbourhood gem, the Detroit Eatery, was destroyed by an early morning fire in January of 2019. The icy, frigid weather at the time made fire response more difficult, and it took more than 3 hours to completely contain the blaze.

All of this left behind extensive fire damage, and the restaurant was unable to reopen for some time.

Neighbouring business owners and local residents told reporters that their hearts were broken over the loss.

After all, the diner hosted a Christmas party every year, and took part in the annual Taste of the Danforth festival with help from local volunteers. This little diner served as more than a quick breakfast spot - it was a gathering place for friends which had been enjoyed for decades.

Beloved by locals, the Detroit Eatery was well-known for its impressive collection of Detroit Red Wings memorabilia. Although the collection was lost in the fire, community members and dedicated patrons used crowdfunding and fundraising nights at other local establishments to help the owners salvage the diner itself.

Fire Restoration with Dry Ice Blasting

SubZero Blasting was able to help by providing fire restoration services. While working on the diner, residents in the tight knit Greektown neighbourhood stopped to thank our skilled and experienced workers for restoring their treasured local haunt.

We were thrilled to help return the beloved Detroit Eatery to the community, and we knew we were up for the task with the best fire restoration techniques available.

Why Dry Ice Blasting?

Dry ice blasting is the most effective method for restoring buildings with fire damage, smoke and ash residue, lingering smells, and mold or mildew from water damage left behind by fire response.

SubZero was able to deal with all of these issues without causing any further damage to the building.

No water damage, no etching or erosion, no harsh chemicals, and no risk to delicate wiring or surfaces inside. For the very best restoration after a fire, call SubZero Blasting and get your home or business back in shape, affordably and efficiently.
